Kenney Kelley from Big Brother Season 26 joined The Bobby Bones Show after he mentioned that he is a fan on the live feeds!
He shared his plan going into the show was to mention The Bobby Bones Show because he is a fan and listens to it every morning! He is also an Arkansas fan and has always loved the show. He also told his house “Let Bobby Bones know I’m going on the show!” Bones, Lunchbox and Raymundo, who are huge Big Brother fans, had many questions about the show for Kelley.
Kelley is a police officer who has worked with the DEA for 23 years and now works as a school officer trying to make his community better. He did undercover drug work for 23 years before he went on Big Brother, but going on the show did not make him nervous.
Kelley dreamed on going on the show, but it started off badly for him because he got in the wrong alliance and was almost evicted the first night. It played a part in why he was so down the whole time, and he also missed his family. But his goal going in was to talk about his family because he knew being a police officer could go either way, people liking or hating him. He wanted people to know he was more than just an undercover police officer, he was also a dad, husband and family man. But in return, that made his emotions go through the roof. He would talk to his kids through the live feed until 5 p.m. every night and once that was over, he would start crying and become an emotional mess, especially because there was a long period of time before he even got into the house that he was not allowed to have contact with them.
His wife is also an undercover police officer and that’s how they met. She was always talking about Big Brother and he was looking for ways to get to talk to her more, so he started watching and became a fan as well. When he was working in Boston, he got a call that there was an open casting call, so he went and got on the show! Multiple times during the show, Kelley asked to be voted out of the house but then would change his mind, which he shared was part of his strategy. He didn’t have a lot of things to talk to the young people about which was difficult for him, but he assured them he was always trying to win. He also revealed that there is a lot that goes on during those three days of filming and then the rest is boring. There was a lot of down time because he was not looking for showmances since he’s married, so 90 days in the house was a lot for him. He never wanted to say anything that came off wrong, so he was walking on eggshells throughout the house and was a lot quieter than he is in real life. The showering situation in the house was also weird because there was only a hot and cold shower in the have-nots and there is a little current in between the shower and the rest of the bathroom and people could be there at the same time as you. Thankfully, Kelley never found himself in a have-not situation, so he never had to have bad living quarters. He also shared that you could be looked out of the yard for days at times and most of the time you don’t know what was going to happen there. He also revealed that you can request certain food items, but they do have a list of things you like to eat and drink before you enter the house, but the producers could run out and get you something you request. Only if you’re head of the house can you request luxurious items though.
Kelley revealed that you could lie about who you are on the show, which is something he did. He made a promise to his wife that he would not tell people he was a cop because a few years ago someone who was an undercover cop won, so she thought he would have a better chance if they didn’t know. But looking back, he regrets that decision and wished he had been honest about who he was from the beginning. When asked if he would ever go back on the show, he admitted he wouldn’t because he did not like being isolated, the assignment attempts and didn’t make a lot of money.
