Zac Brown Band delivered a fiery rendition of a reimagined rock classic during the new Sunday Night Baseball opening theme song, which premiered ahead of the Cleveland Guardians-Atlanta Braves game on Sunday (April 12).

The Grammy-winning group took the stage at the Milwaukee Brewers’ American Family Field to film the opening, per a previously-issued NBC Sports press release. They performed Emerson, Lake & Palmer's 1970s hit, “Karn Evil 9, 1st Impression Part 2.”

“Nothing is more American than baseball. Bringing energy and people together which is exactly what we try to capture in our music,” frontman Zac Brown said in a statement. “Getting to be part of Sunday Night Baseball and put our own spin on a classic for fans across the country is something we’re really proud of.”

NBC Sports Creative Director Tripp Dixon added in the NBC Sports press release, “we are excited for Zac Brown Band to join the star-studded marquee of show open performers on NBC’s first-of-its kind, year-round Sunday night sports franchise.”

The Sunday Night Baseball opening arrives shortly after Zac Brown Band’s “Free” served as the final wake-up song for NASA's Artemis II mission crew. Sunday Night Baseball’s theme will play each weekend throughout the season, per NBC Sports. Watch Zac Brown Band’s performance here:
