Country singer Kylie Frey and her boyfriend, Joseph Peasall, have welcomed Baby No. 1.
The new parents shared the first photos with their newborn son on Monday (September 9). Frey announced her son, Lee Berenger “Bear” Peasall, was born on August 31, weighing 9 pounds, 11 ounces, and at 20 inches long.
“Welcome to the family little buddy!” Frey wrote in her caption as she and Peasall shared the snapshots on Instagram. The birth announcement quickly drew heartfelt messages and reactions from other artists, including Kimberly Perry, Jake Worthington, Maggie Rose, Wade Bowen, Jenna Paulette and more. Frey and Peasall announced in May that they were expecting Baby No. 1. The parents-to-be posted a black-and-white photo with Frey cradling her baby bump as the couple held up the sonogram images. She wrote in her caption at that time: “Life is full of surprises, and we’re very excited about this one! 🥰”
Frey, 29, confirmed to PEOPLE in May that she and Peasall, 27, learned on New Year’s Day that she was pregnant with their first baby.
Before publicly confirming her pregnancy, Frey caught up with iHeartCountry on the red carpet at the 2024 CMT Music Awards earlier this year at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. The Louisiana-born country singer said she went “full-on sparkle cowgirl mode,” donning a shimmering green gown and cowgirl hat. Frey is one of the 2024 CMT Next Women of Country honorees, alongside Anne Wilson, Denitia, Ella Langley, Emily Ann Roberts, HunterGirl, Karley Scott Collins, Lauren Watkins, Madeline Merlo, Mae Estes, Tanner Adell, The Castellows, Tigirlily Gold and Twinnie.
“It was such an honor to get the call,” Frey said. “I had been trying to get on that class for so long because the women that come from that class, it just really sheds a light on what’s happening in country music women. ...(It) was just everything to me. And I don’t take it lightly. And I just plan on using it, and using it to catapult me forward.”
Frey is one of several country artists to welcome a new baby to the family in 2024, along with other first-time parents and artists welcoming Babies No. 2, 3 or 4. Others include Parker McCollum, Kane Brown and wife Katelyn Brown, Jon Pardi, Gabby Barrett, Jessie James Decker and others. See a list of pregnancy announcements here.
