Mickey Guyton delivered a powerful rendition of a classic Patty Loveless anthem on the Bridgestone Arena stage in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The Texas-born country star shared a throwback video of the performance on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon (January 10).
“Did y’all grow up listening to classic country?” Guyton wanted to know. “Patty Loveless has some of the best! 👑”
Guyton, who wore a stunning, shimmering wardrobe, covered “Blame It on Your Heart.” Loveless released the smash-hit country single in 1993, appearing on the 10-track album, Only What I Feel. it remains one of the Kentucky-born artist’s most iconic songs throughout her decades-long career, along with “I Try to Think About Elvis,” “You Will,” “You Can Feel Bad,” “Timber I’m Falling In Love,” and many others.
Guyton’s performance took place during the 8th annual All For The Hall benefit concert, supporting the nonprofit Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s education programs. The star-studded event, which raised nearly $1 million, was hosted by Keith Urban and Vince Gill. Other performers included Kelsea Ballerini, Old Dominion, The War And Treaty, Trisha Yearwood, Brooks & Dunn, and many others, including Loveless herself.
Loveless marked two major honors at the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2023. First, her exhibit, Patty Loveless: No Trouble with the Truth, made its debut in August. Artifacts in the museum — including wardrobe pieces, photos throughout her life, manuscripts and more — will remain on display through October 2024. Then, in October 2023, Loveless was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, alongside “Delta Dawn” legend Tanya Tucker and powerhouse songwriter Bob McDill. Loveless was honored during the induction ceremony with performances by Sister Sadie (performing “The Sounds of Loneliness”), Bob Seger (performing “She Drew a Broken Heart,” which “was a real shock” to Loveless) and Vince Gill (performing “Lonely Too Long”), who also presented Loveless with her medallion. Loveless said at that time, “it truly is an honor and I don’t think that I could really have done this without many, many people that supported me.”
