Old Dominion couldn’t pass up the opportunity to surprise the crowd at a recent pop-up performance… Lead vocalist Matthew Ramsey said, noting the special part of playing a hometown show is meeting family and friends, that it was “only fair” for the band to welcome a friend of their own to the stage.

That’s when they introduced Kenny Chesney — and the crowd went wild.

Old Dominion is currently on a nationwide trek with Chesney on his headlining “Here And Now Tour,” which also includes Dan + Shay and Carly Pearce. Throughout the tour, Old Dominion has played pop-up shows at a local venue in each city the evening before the “Here And Now” concert. They said “surprising y’all at (the Old Dominion pop-up shows) never gets old… May have a few more surprises up our sleeves.”

Chesney joined Old Dominion on stage for a rendition of “Save It for a Rainy Day,” one of 11 tracks on his 2014 album, The Big Revival. The collection also included the title track, “Til It’s Gone,” “American Kids,” “Wild Child” with Grace Potter and other fan-favorites.

“Cause the sun's too bright/ The sky's too blue/ Beer's too cold to be thinking about you/ Gonna take this heartbreak/ Tuck it away/ Save it for a rainy day.”
