Kelly Clarkson Looks Visibly Upset In First Photos Since Filing For Divorce

Kelly Clarkson was pictured for the first time since filing for divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock.

On Thursday (June 11), TMZ reported the 38-year-old singer had filed documents in Los Angeles on June 4 to end her seven-year marriage to the 43-year-old talent manager, citing "irreconcilable differences."

In the hours following the unfortunate news, the American Idol alum appeared to be visibly upset in images captured on Friday (June 12) and obtained by the Daily Mail. In the photos, the “Broken & Beautiful” musician tries to keep her spirits high while walking her dog through her LA neighborhood one day after her divorce made headlines. (See the photos here.)

The longtime couple, who share two children — daughter River Rose, 5, and son Remington, 4 —met at Super Bowl XLVI in 2012 through Blackstock’s father, Narvel, who manages Clarkson. After 10 months of dating, Blackstock proposed to the songbird and the couple tied the knot in October 2013.

According to a source close to the couple, the decision to divorce came after the ongoing marital issues Clarkson and Blackstock could no longer ignore while quarantining together in Montana.

"Kelly and Brandon had been having problems for several months and were making a conscious effort to work things out," a source told Entertainment Tonight. "They both hoped quarantining away from L.A. in Montana would help them work things out in their marriage, but instead the change in environment was actually detrimental."

"The constant time together seemed to make an already challenging situation worse," the insider added, revealing Clarkson’s busy career had provided her a distraction from their problems. However, spending time with Blackstock in quarantine “gave her the time she needed to think about her life and her marriage."

Despite being "heartbroken" over the decision, the pair are putting their children first and plan to focus on "co-parenting and moving forward."
