Morgan Wallen spoke out about his viral, abrupt exit from Saturday Night Live.

Wallen took the stage with “I’m The Problem” and “Just In Case” when he appeared as the show’s musical guest on the March 29 episode. After the show, he hugged the host, Oscar-winning Anora star Mikey Madison, but skipped saying goodbye to any of the SNL cast members. Wallen exited the studio while the credits rolled, and wrote on his Instagram story as he boarded a plane: “Get me to God’s country.”

The “Superman” artist joined Caleb Pressley on an episode of Sundae Conversation over the weekend. Pressley asked Wallen on his show, after his Saturday Night Live moment came up in conversation, “seriously, SNL, did they make you mad?”

“No, no. I was just ready to go home,” Wallen said. “I’d been there all week.”

Wallen did not comment on his unusual departure from the studio at the end of the SNL show; however, he did launch new merch with the phrase “Get me to God’s Country” soon afterward. Saturday Night Live cast members joked about Wallen’s exit during the show the following week (hosted by actor and comedian Jack Black with performances by Elton John and Brandi Carlile). Cast member James Austin Johnson delivered the viral quote while playing President Donald Trump in the cold open. Colin Jost joked about the country star’s abrupt exit during the Weekend Update segment.

Wallen’s highly-anticipated, 37-track album, I’m The Problem, will release on Friday (May 16). The record includes “Superman,” the title track, “Lies Lies Lies,” “Love Somebody,” “Smile,” “Just In Case,” “I’m A Little Crazy,” and “I Ain’t Comin’ Back,” Wallen’s latest collaboration with Post Malone. I’m The Problem also includes collaborations with pop star Tate McRae — Wallen’s first-ever female duet partner — Erich Church, HARDY and ERNEST. The album will release on the first day of Wallen’s sold out, three-day Sand In My Boots Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He’s headlining the star-studded event with Post Malone, HARDY and Brooks & Dunn. His headlining “I’m The Problem Tour” will include a rotating lineup with Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and Koe Wetzel as direct support, and Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley and Anne Wilson on select dates.
