Listen to Sammy Kershaw on iHeartRadio

Sammy Kershaw says his current single is one he hadn't intended to record himself.  The country singer tells he penned "The Route That I Took" for George Jones several years ago, but the country legend never had a chance to cut it before he died.  He explains that on the day Jones died one of his engineers discovered his demo, and after he listened back to it he felt he "needed to put it out as a tribute.

Sammy admits that he'll always love and miss George, and the legendary Possum will always be his hero.  But that's not the only new music from Kershaw.  He recently teamed up with Joe Diffie and Aaron Tippin on the new album All in the Same Boat.  Sammy says the project grew out of their "Roots & Boots" tour, explaining that "it just made sense" for them to make a CD together "for the folks who came to the shows."  He adds that he, Diffie, and Tippin really enjoy working with one another, and they'll be playing more shows together.  Kershaw says they're hoping to continue their tour into 2014.
