Listen to Blake Shelton on iHeartRadio | Listen to Alan Jackson on iHeartRadio

Blake Shelton and Alan Jackson are showing better than predicted returns for their latest albums. says Shelton experienced the best sales week of his career with the arrival of his new CD, "Based on a True Story..."  The country star's seventh studio effort is topping the Billboard Country Albums chart with 199-thousand copies sold.

That figure is nearly 20-thousand more than the disc's originally projected sales of 180-thousand.  It also far surpasses Shelton's previous best sales week of 116-thousand, which he achieved with his last album, 2011's "Red River Blue."

Alan Jackson is taking the number five spot on the Billboard 200 with his new album, "Precious Memories, Volume 2," on sales of 55-thousand - a slightly higher total than the initial estimate of 50-thousand.

However, Alan's second gospel collection isn't selling quite as well as his first one did.  In 2006 Jackson's first "Precious Memories" set opened at number one on the Country Albums chart and at number four on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 107-thousand.
