(KFYI News) Arizona Senator John McCain says he's got three priorities when Congress returns next month: water, firefighting and border security.

"I really believe that if we had a truly bipartisan effort in the Senate, that would put enormous pressures on the House to sit in conference and work things out. They know Americans want us to do something on this issue."

He held a town hall in Mesa on Monday, saying it's vital that Congress work together on securing the border.  He added that securing water supplies for the future is a growing priority since groundwater tables are dangerously low.

Congress returns from recess next month.
