(KFYI News) – Independents became the largest group of registered voters in Arizona in March, and their lead continues to widen.
The latest voter registration numbers from the Arizona Secretary of State's Office shows Independents (registered as "no party preference") now make up 35.5% of all registered voters in the state. Republicans are second with 34.6% of all registered voters. Democrats make up 29.1% of registered voters.
Since the last report in March, the Secretary of State's Office says the number of registered Independents has risen by 18,200. The number of registered Republicans has fallen by 16,000 and the number of registered Democrats is lower by about 7,400.
