Online retail giant Amazon is making a change just ahead of the holiday season that could end up costing you some cash.

The minimum order for free shipping is now $35, up from the $25 minimum that's been in effect for more than a decade.  The change took effect yesterday.

Amazon customers who pay $79 dollars yearly for Prime membership will still get their purchases shipped free of charge.  Amazon said earlier this year that its shipping costs would rise during the holiday season.
