PINETOP, Ariz. (AP) — Police say they shot and killed a gunman who wounded two people outside a northern Arizona casino.

White Mountain Apache Police Chief Travis Tessay Sr. says the alleged shooter got into an argument with his wife around 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Hon-Dah Casino in Pinetop.

Tessay says the suspect retrieved a rifle, leading his wife and a child to run into the casino. According to Tessay, the suspect shot a security guard who went outside to investigate.

The guard was flown to a Phoenix hospital and released Sunday. Tessay says a customer was also injured — possibly from bullet or glass fragments.

Tessay says the suspect ignored commands to put down the rifle and was shot by an officer.

He died before reaching a hospital.
